Vartan Malakian


Vartan Malakian (February 14, 1947) is an Armenian-American choreographer and painter born in Iraq, who now lives in Los Angeles.

the age of eighteen, Malakian has held its first exhibition Czechoslovak Embassy and other events sponsored by the government drew attention to his extraordinary work. In 1968, Vartan has landed the role of choreographer for the Iraqi government and the Armenian Youth Organization. For several years, Vartan has organized and created a successful show of the caliber of Broadway.

In 1975, Vartan Malakian emigrated to the USA and settled in Hollywood, California. In the same year his son was born Daron. Vartan has continued his career in dance and arts and in 1981 began teaching dance at Glendale College, where he formed the Armenian Assembly of Dance. In 1993 he opened his exhibition at the Art Gallery in Hollywood, call Arka Gallery. There Vartan has sold over 100 pieces of his artistic creations to a wider group of people, including some celebrities in the art. In 2001, the Los Angeles Times has called her gallery as one of the most unique shops in the city.

The son is the guitarist Daron of System of a Down. In 2005 he created the artwork for Mezmerize and Hypnotize albums of the band and the Ibanez Daron Malakian DMM1. Frequently attends concerts, System of a Down and the child often dedicates a song when it is present.
